Great tour, great weekend, great people!

My sister Julia, our friend Marie and I had been on the 3 day Skye and Highlands tour recently and it was just a wonderful experience! From the first day on we felt very comfortable in the group and we had a lot of fun with all the people from all around the world. After the first day it seems like you already had known all those people for a long time. We were very lucky with the weather and the landscape was just stunning. Our tour guide Kath was great, we could not get enough of her stories! It was very interesting to get to know the history of Scotland and actually to be at the places were all this happenend. We visited so many beautiful places, but nevertheless the Fairy Glens was my favourite place and I wish I could go back up there! The hostel at Stromeferry was also just a great and cosy place at the Loch. Great view and thanks again to Hillary for cooking – it was delicious! I loved going around by bus, listening to traditional Scottish music and on the last day I wished the tour would last longer. Thanks again to Kath, greatest guide of all, and all who had been on this tour – it was an awesome time! I’ll never forget it and I strongly recommend the tour – it was just great! So maybe we’ll come back one day – looking forward to that! Thank you for this experience, Scotland and this tour is great!!!

Fun, Fun, Fun and then some……..

Hi There;

I have been visiting Scotland for over 10 years and up until last week I had never made it further than Stirling.

I booked my tour for myself and a friend a couple of months in advance which gave me plenty of time to ponder what horrors could await me – dull tour guides, large dorms full of snoring, farting folk, torrential rain and getting stuck up various hills.

However, the tour exceeded my expectations in every way. All 3 days were fantastic. I learned a lot but it didn’t feel like I was being lectured. Information was delivered with emotion and enthusiasm and was well received by all.

The group was very mixed (ages and nationalities) but we all got on really well without any traumas. The hostel was situated in a beautiful location with small rooms and everything you could think of to hand.

Of course there was one thing (or should I say person) that really made the tour…Danny, what a character. His storytelling ability was second to none and his enthusiasm for all things Scottish was highly contagious.

The only one criticism that I have would be he needs to slow down or take a holiday. Sometimes I was exhausted just watching him!

All in all it was a thoroughly enjoyable trip. I would not hesitate to recommend “Wild in Scotland” to my friends and family and who knows, I may book another tour for next summer!!!

Hi Wild in Scotland! My husband and I took (what was then called) the Monster/Castle tour in 2007. My husband and I have travelled quite a lot but Scotland with Wild in Scotland was by far the BEST! James was our tour guide and he was phenomenal!!!! We had such a fantastic time and still continually reminisce!! We can’t wait to come back and take another tour! By the way, just last night we saw Gordon from Stromeferry (no ferry) on a show here in the states called Three Sheets. Thank you Wild in Scotland for being so original and extraordinary!!!!

I did the 9 day Island Whopper beginning 18th May 2010. Danny was our guide for the first part of our trip and we were already cracking up before we got out of the City. Danny’s sun dance could put an Indian to shame. The tour took us to places which would generally be very difficult to access and the drive on Glengarry road was particularly hilarious!
Ewan was our guide for the last 4 days and he made it equally interesting and fun. Since I’ve come back I keep telling people Orkney’s cool! The guides are PROUD SCOTS and are loaded with serious information on their land.
The nights are never complete without a wee dram or a pint at the local pub where thankfully the locals far outnumber us tourists and are always up for some banter if you can take it!
The tour was the best part of my trip to the UK and money well spent.
Kath – time permitting I shall trouble you again mostly this December for the Christmas special.

P.S. Danny plays the acoustic guitar very well and Ewan the air guitar – make sure you get you fill!!

We had an awesome 3 days with Danny as our brilliant guide. We could not believe how much you can fit into 3 days when you are having such a good time. We highly recommend this tour as well as Danny for a fun dedicated and very knowledgable guide (even after hours). We would have liked to do a longer tour and definitely would look at the 6 days next time. Thanks Danny we miss your choice Scottish talk!!!

Just got back from the 3 day tour of Skye & the highlands and it was an excellent three days! The guys on my tour were fabulous (even though 5 out of 7 were Aussie) and we had a great time exploring the highlands & the isle of Skye together. Danny was awesome and made the best of the situation (the weather) making it a great tour for us. The kitty system is great cooking dinner together was awesome. Will definitely recommend Wild in Scotland tours to everyone! Thanks for a great long weekend!!

5 Day Orkney Tour Questions

January 14th, 2010

Submitted by: David N. Berger

Hello folks!

I recently had a WONDERFUL tour with Martin exploring the Highlands and Orkney. It was exceptional,  free flowing, great company and Martin’s experience and route was spectacular to say the least. My brother and I deeply enjoyed the trip and can’t wait to come back and see even more.

Is it possible to get Martin’s five day itinerary? A listing of the places we visited and major cities so I can retrace our trip in my journal and not misspell everything  (even just the big spots along the way). I know we visited a lot of places not listed on the normal five day Orkney tour and we saw so much that it’s hard to keep everything straight!

Thanks kindly,

David N. Berger.

P.S. Martin was an excellent guide for us. We really enjoyed his tour. Please forward our thanks to him.

Hi,

Taking that trip to the Isle of Skye last weekend was absolutely the best thing I could have done! Thank you for a lovely time.
It was nice to be on a tour that didn’t include tourist shops and all that kind of stuff. The whole trip was well planned and organized.
Your house in Stromeferry is a dream! And Gordon and his stories about vikings were fascinating.

And Danny! Yes Danny, he is some character! I really enjoyed his enthusiasm of telling stories.  It was like he was telling them for the first time and for you only! That is a talent!  I wouldn’t be surprised to see him in a movie or in theatre one day. . .The stories were fascinating and his knowledge of the history good. He made it all sound  interesting so much as that I decided to go and buy a book and learn more.
I also admired his way to cope with those giggling girls. His was a friend and was joking with them but never on any circumstances did he cross the line of being professional. Not an easy thing to do. I know from my job. I hope you know what kind of treasure you have in him. . .

If I can find a job and  get cheap accommodation in Scotland,  and be able to stay here ’till the end of March as I have planned, I would like to go on another tour of yours. And definitely,  I will advertise you to all my friends. Actually,  I did already yesterday! So if you start to get middle-aged women  from Finland attending your tours,  you can only blame me!

Thanks again and every best wish for 2009 to all of you!

Sari
